Belgrade Economy

Belgrade is the financial centre of Serbia and Southeast Europe with total 17.000.000 m² office space, over 600.000 employees in 120.286 companies, 22.600 enterprises and 50.000 shops.

With 6.924 companies in the sector (2013 data), Belgrade is one of information technology centers in this part of Europe, with strong growth. Microsoft Development Center located in Belgrade was at the time of its establishment fifth such center in the world. Many world IT companies choose Belgrade as regional or European center such as Asus, Intel, Dell, Huawei, NCR, etc.

Every year Belgrade Fair hosts over 30 regular international fair manifestations. Over 5.000 companies exhibit on the Belgrade Fair annually, with more than 1.500.000 visitors. Many of these manifestations are members of respectable international organizations. The Belgrade Fair is the largest institution of its kind in Serbia, covering an area of 24 hectares. It has 14 halls which cover an exhibition area of 100.000 square meters, dominated by the three large domes.

New Belgrade is the main business district in the country. It offers a range of facilities such as hotels, congress halls, class A and class B office buildings, sporting facilities, shopping malls and business parks. The Belgrade Stock Exchange is also located in New Belgrade. Currently, over 1.2 million square meters of land is under construction in New Belgrade and the estimated value of construction in the next two and half years is over 1.5 billion Euros.

Belgrade Waterfront or Belgrade on Water is the name of the construction project headed by the Serbian government aimed at improving Belgrade's cityscape and economy. Project was initiated in 2014 between the Serbian government and Emirati investors. Around 2,5 to 2,8 billion € are to be invested by the Serbian government and their Emirati partners. Project includes an office and luxury apartment blocks, eight hotels, a shopping mall and 200-meter high Belgrade tower on the right bank of the Sava River.
